    4. Raheem Sterling, Leroy Sane and Sergio Aguero (Manchester City):

    Pep Guardiola arrived at Manchester City in 2016 and changed the footballing landscape in the Premier League by enabling his team to play beautiful football. Often playing with a front 3 and clever creative players like De Bruyne and David Silva behind them, this was surely one of the most lethal attacking trios in Prem history.

    3. Robert Pires, Dennis Bergkamp and Thierry Henry (Arsenal):
    We know many Arsenal fans will be agitated seeing this amazing attacking Premiership trio trio at number three in our list. There are reasons to it in terms of formation as well as achievements when it comes to continental success.

    Robert Pires, Dennis Bergkamp and Thierry Henry are arguably the three greatest players in Arsenal’s history. Henry and Bergkamp were voted Arsenal’s greatest ever players by their fans.

    When these three legends were playing together, Arsenal’s formation was always 4-4-2 which meant Pires would take up the left side of midfield instead of being an out-and-out member of the front three. Henry played as a left-striker whereas Bergkamp played as a right-striker.

    This attacking trio propelled Arsenal to two Premier League titles and an FA Cup and were part of the legendary “Invincibles” team of 2003-04.

    Gunners’ woe

    For a season that promised so much for Arsenal, their season threatens to collapse in all-too familiar fashion.

    No strangers to suffering late-season compounded defeat, Wednesday’s single-goal loss in Munich was a hammer blow after a home loss to former boss Unai Emery.

    Sent packing from the Champions League in the last eight once more, the Gunners are in desperate need of a riposte.

    Still in second spot behind Manchester City in the Premier League standings, with a healthy pinch of reality, Arsenal are just two points off the holders, boasting a better GD.

    If we consider the weekend’s opposition also, the North Londoners’ record against Wolves is strong, having won all of the last five meetings.

    If Arsenal bounce back this weekend, the title race is still very much on.

    A hint of form

    For Chelsea, the season thus far has not a been a bright start to a new era under Mauricio Pochettino.

    Indeed, as the Blues sit 11th in the standings, the club resume heading toward November in the bottom half of the table.

    However, winning just once in their opening six league outings, Chelsea looked to have turned a corner. Of sorts.

    Stopping the rot and picking up successive league wins before the international hiatus, a sterner test of their progress now awaits.

    Indeed, Arsenal, level on points with Tottenham, could be top of the table come the end of the weekend, if results go their way.

    And, having thumped Bournemouth before finally ending their Manchester City hoodoo last time out, the Gunners are in fine fettle.

    So what sort of contest are we expecting on Saturday?

    Battle of Stamford Bridge?

    From a punter’s perspective, the weekend’s clash should again bring more than a dash of capital spice.

    In all Chelsea’s eight league games this term, at least five cards have been shown, as the Blues’ intense style of play ramps up under Pochettino.

    That trend is likely to continue.

    In the corresponding fixture last term, no fewer than seven cards were shown by referee Michael Oliver.

    Chris Kavanagh may not be the most prolific of stewards in the bookings department, but the man in the middle can expect a busy evening, given sterner directives.

    Gallagher-Enzo 11/2 double

    At the heart of Chelsea’s attempt to add some much-needed bite to their midfield, Conor Gallagher and Enzo Fernandez are central.

    As far as discipline goes, the two have shared four yellow cards across half their games played this term.

    The Argentine, Fernandez, has been cautioned three times to Gallagher’s lone booking in defeat to Nottingham Forest, at Stamford Bridge.

    In the case of Gallagher though, the midfielder received a yellow card both home and away against Arsenal last term.

    Bukayo Saka’s availability remains up in the air, but if the Gunners can unleash Saka, together with Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus, the visitors will be set-up to break at pace.

    That leaves the door open for cards to tot up.

    For both Gallagher and Fernandez to be carded, an 11/2 punt with William Hill looks inviting.

    Whilst Arsenal lost away in midweek, City bounced back, but arrive on the back of league defeat for first time this term.

    Saka doubt

    Having carried a slight niggle for the past few weeks, Bukayo Saka‘s midweek withdrawal was a sizeable blow for boss Mikel Arteta.

    Initial fears appear to have been dampened with the news the Arsenal forward could start on Sunday.

    Yet, Saka could be forced into bench role.

    His absence could see either Gabriel Jesus or Eddie Nketiah shuffled to the right of a front three, with Kai Havertz a potential to start up top.

    However, it is the left wing role that could be vital.

    With Gabriel Martinelli still out, Leandro Trossard is poised.

    Trossard to shine?

    As the clamour grows for the tricky Belgian to be handed a run in the starting XI, the 28-year-old is ready to be unleashed on City.

    A late substitute in netting Arsenal’s leveller in the Community Shield back in August, Trossard’s record against the Sunday’s opposition is impressive.

    Trossard has now netted three times against City in the past, including twice for former club Brighton.

    Indeed, finding the net at the Etihad last October, Trossard was instrumental in the Seagulls’ 3-2 win in May 2021.

    Not many players can boast such a record against formidable opposition and his experiences in front of goal may be crucial.

    A possible match-up with Kyle Walker will be a fascinating pace battle, one Trossard has already come out on top in.

    In front of Walker, Rodri will be a huge void to fill this weekend after his sending off last weekend.

    Without the Spanish guardian – perhaps the best central midfielder in Europe right now – Arsenal could be in business.

    Aside from their season-opener victory at Wembley, the north Londoners have lost all of their last eight league and cup games.

    At home, Arsenal are winless against City in the league since 2015. This could be the time to change that particular stat.

    Having returned to her southern roots, Russo is now in search of more individual and team trophies with Arsenal.

    But not exclusively.

    The 24-year-old striking sensation made a telling admission to the media circus around her this summer.

    “Towards the end of the season it was tough and the summer has been tough,” Russo said last month. “You don’t like things in the media about you but that’s football and that’s the state of the women’s game.”

    Starring World Cup role

    Ultimately, the media coverage was a form of flattery.

    It reflected Russo’s rising star in the game, now gunning to be starter in this tournament for Sarina Wiegman’s side – rather than settle for the super sub she had at the European Championship in 2021.

    Russo is competing for a starting XI berth with the WSL’s leading scorer Rachel Daly – a converted full back – as well as Tottenham’s Beth England.

    “They are top, top players so to be able to play with them and train with them every day has been great,” said Russo.

    But Daly and England don’t have the same hype around them.

    Russo, the Baby Faced Assassin, has tournament goalscoring pedigree that Wiegman will lean heavily on.

    With 11 England goals in 22 caps, Russo knows her way around international football.

    The bookmakers believe Daly is the more likely to grab the Golden Boot, at 12/1 – although Russo is not far behind at 14/1.

    Toone chemistry

    “She’ll definitely be one of my bridesmaids one day,” Russo has said regarding Toone.

    That friendship translates to an on-field chemistry that should take this England side deep into the tournament.

    Toone supplies the assists from wide positions; Russo finishes off the moves. It’s what happens.

    The exciting thing for England fans is that Russo and Toone are still only 24 and 23 respectively.

    This World Cup should see them close to their peaks, but there is still ample room for improvement.

    A thrilling prospect without question and part of the reason why the Lionesses are second favourites for the tournament at 4/1 to go all the way in Australia.

    If England’s women are to go all the way and win successive major silverware, Russo will be front-and-centre.

    Gabriel Jesus transitioned himself into being more than just a striker at Arsenal and was one of the major reasons why they found themselves in a fight for the Premier League title. As a matter of fact, if not for injuries, Jesus would have led Arsenal to the Premier League title.
    All things considered, despite his unavailability, Jesus scored 11 goals and provided 6 assists in 26 appearances throughout the campaign.
