Premier League | Southampton v Crystal Palace

High flyers Crystal Palace visit Southampton who are rock bottom of the Premier League and look all but relegated. The Eagles booked their ticket to Wembley on Saturday after dismantling Fulham at Craven Cottage in their FA Cup Quarter-Final. The Saints may have a glimmer of hope of survival but they would need a miracle starting with an unlikely win against Crystal Palace.

I’ve found a high value pick that has landed in Southampton’s last 11 league matches. My tip for this game is Over 2.5 Match Goals at 1.72.

Matter of Time For Southampton

Southampton have had a season to forget with just nine points from 29 league games. They are stuck in 20th place and are 17 points from safety, things are looking bleak and the club have already started thinking about life in the Championship next season. They only have two wins and three draws from their season with wins looking impossible to get.

In terms of goals, they have conceded the most in the league with 70 scoring the least with 21 showing they are struggling at both ends resulting in their league position. They average 3.14 goals a game with 66% of their games seeing over 2.5 match goals with these of course falling to the opposition most of the time.

Soaring Eagles

On the other hand, Palace have been in great form this calendar year and have won their last four league games on the road. Coincidentally, they have all been 0-2 wins, however with the attacking talent the Eagles possess, I can see them scoring a few more against a weak Saints side.

Jean-Philippe Mateta, Eberechi Eze and Ismaila Sarr are a formidable attacking trio and one that Southampton won’t be able to contain. With the form Crystal Palace are in, they will be full of confidence and flair. Their top scorer, Mateta will be looking to find his goal scoring form again after an injury against Millwall sidelined him for weeks. He started against Fulham, however looked slightly cautious compared to his usual self. The Frenchman will see Southampton as a great opportunity to find the back of the net once again!
