Bookies open betting on colour of Kings Charles’s tie and Queen Camilla’s hat
Eager punters have been busy predicting what colour tie King Charles will wear when he arrives at Royal Ascot this week; BestofBets.com has been told that pink is the current money favourite for day 1.
Betting on the colour of the Queen’s hat has been a traditional punt racing fans have always loved and although this year will feel very different without her late Majesty, royalists are looking to Queen Camilla to continue the tradition.
To match the King’s pink tie, a cream/white shade hat is the 3/1 favourite ahead of blue/navy at 4/1. Bolder colours such as red and green are longer odds at 8/1 and 10/1 respectively.
When it comes to fashion stakes, Camilla is less daring than Her late Majesty and reason why most bookmakers have gone for more subtle colours.
Away from the fashion, some top class racing action is on the cards at Royal Ascot on tomorrow.
Following a few rocky year on the race track for the Royals, Saga is a 7/2 favourite to hand His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen a winner on the opening day of the meeting when he runs under the trusted guidance of Frankie Dettori in the Wolferton Stakes.
And as he’s doing his final season in the saddle, there’s no surprise that the Frankie Factor is at an all time high. The prolific jockey is odds-on at 4/7 to ride at least three winners, while he is an early favourite at 3/1 to be crowned BBC Sports Personality of the Year.
Meanwhile, Ryan Moore is the jockey fancied to revel in more Royal Ascot success this year with his odds on being crowned the top jockey shortening on the day before the big festival kicks off. He’s currently 4/7, down from even money, to be the jockey with the most winners come the end of the week. Dettori is second at 3/1.
With 81 Royal Ascot winners under his belt, Irish trainer Aidan O’Brien needs one more to tie Michael Stoute’s all-time record haul. The Ballydoyle man is 10/11 to be crowned top trainer with 6/1 available that O’Brien and Dettori are crowned the top duo for the week.
