We now move on to another early match in the Major program, and I look forward to watching the clash between Furia and Liquid. Although I’m not a huge Furia fan, I can’t deny that when they hit their top level, they are incredibly exciting to watch. When players like Chelo, Kscerato, and Skullz perform at their highest individual level, even the best teams can struggle. On the other hand, Liquid somehow manages to rack up a series of wins, even though their play often appears less convincing.
Arguments for the match:
- Furia is a team that thrives when they are in the right momentum, which their performances in the last two matches against Spirit and Vitality have clearly demonstrated. They secured two impressive victories.
- Furia has delivered strong performances against two of the biggest favorites to win the tournament. They defeated Spirit and played a close match against Vitality, which they should have won.
- Given that this is a BO1 match, I consider Furia the favorite. They have played two nearly perfect games, while Liquid has faced more challenges. I haven’t seen any convincing performances from Liquid, even though they won against GamerLegion, where their gameplay was far from impressive.
- Furia has a good chance of winning this BO1 match, especially if they avoid Inferno, which is not a favorable map for them. If they pick a map that suits their strengths, they will be in a strong position.
- If Furia hits their level as seen in the last two matches, they will have the highest individual quality on the field. Their firepower is greater than Liquid’s, provided they play at their best. Liquid does not have a standout player who shines the same way as PT when he’s in top form.
Keep an eye on:
- Regardless of how close their wins have been, Liquid has won 7 out of their last 8 matches. Their only loss was against Natus Vincere in a BO1.
- The head-to-head record clearly favors Liquid, as they have generally had a good grip on Furia.
- However, I sometimes have doubts about Furia’s tactical skill, especially if their plan A isn’t working. I believe Fallen can sometimes be a hindrance for the team if the game stalls.
- If the match takes place on maps like Anubis or Inferno, it would be an advantage for Liquid.
- Liquid possesses a core with great potential, but we haven’t yet seen them reach their full potential.
