We are now entering the second round of the BO1 matches on Day 1 of the opening stage. Complexity delivered a disappointing performance against FlyQuest, and the same can be said for Passion UA, although they managed to fight back a bit against BIG. Overall, both teams were far from their best. However, I believe Passion UA has the potential to challenge Complexity, although it will be difficult if Complexity reaches their level. Therefore, I am betting on a small +handicap for Passion UA in this match.
Arguments for playing the tip:
- Complexity delivered a disappointing performance against FlyQuest. On paper, they should have won the match, but they were convincingly defeated. Nothing worked for the North American team.
- Complexity is not a top-tier team without Elige. When Elige doesn’t perform, Complexity lacks quality in several areas and is heavily reliant on his performance to succeed.
- Passion UA can challenge Complexity if they find their form from this year’s RMR. If they manage to play at the level they showed earlier this year, they could cause problems for Complexity.
- Passion UA has a good chance of winning the veto. There are several maps where Passion UA plays solid CS, while Complexity still lacks the extra percentage needed to dominate on those maps.
- Jambo has the potential to reach his high level. If he, alongside Fear and Jackasmo, performs at their best, Passion UA could definitely pressure Complexity.
Keep an eye on:
- Passion UA depends on Jambo. If he doesn’t hit the level like Elige needs to deliver his for Complexity, there is a significant gap to the next “really” good player on the team.
- Passion UA makes a lot of tactical mistakes. We saw this in their match against BIG, and it could become an issue against a team like Complexity.
- Complexity is a team everyone expects to advance to the Major. However, they will need to deliver a strong performance. Complexity usually raises their level, but it remains to be seen if that will be enough in this match.
- Player for player, Complexity is the stronger team. They are typically a solid tactical team and should be able to dominate Passion UA, who are more of a tier-2 team tactically.
