UEFA Nations League | England vs Greece

England - Harry Kane

Our Expert Tip

England host Greece at Wembley Stadium in the UEFA Nations League tonight. So far, both teams have had comfortable starts to Group B2 picking up six points with Greece sitting at the top on goal difference. Without Harry Kane, I see a tight game here again a dangerous Greece side, so we’re tipping under 2.5 Match Goals at 1.90.

Lee Carsley, England Interim manager, has kept faith in the captain, starting Kane in the first two Nations League games giving him 164 minutes of football. This is despite having plenty of in form attacking talent in the likes of Ollie Watkins and Ivan Toney. However without Kane tonight, this gives an opportunity for these two strikers to stake their claim at starting.

In England’s last ten games, seven have seen under 2.5 match goals. At Wembley the Three Lions tend to keep clean sheets and have kept back to back clean sheets in the Nations League so far.

Matchday 3 Build-up

In Matchday 1 of the campaign, England beat the Republic of Ireland 2-0, whilst Greece beat Finland 3-0 in a group that seems to be taking shape already with the two front runners taking early strides. On Matchday 2, both sides won again with the same score of 2-0. Matchday 3 will determine who takes the top spot half way through the group stage.

In their last nine meetings between the two countries, Greece haven’t managed to win against England and only have picked up two draws. This fixture is one that produces amazing memories for England fans as they reminisce on that David Beckham free kick that sent England to the 2002 World Cup.
