Premier League | Manchester United vs Tottenham

Tottenham midfielder, Bentancur

Mid Table Clash

Manchester United host Tottenham on Sunday afternoon in the Premier League. Both teams will want to pick up three points as they sit mid-table with only two wins after five games.

One player we will be focusing on is Spurs’ midfielder, Rodrigo Bentancur. He has already picked up three yellow cards and has only played 217 minutes of league football this season, that’s a yellow card every 72 minutes of football. For that reason, I’m backing Bentancur to be shown a card at 3.40. He tends to be subbed so back with a bookie that offers the super sub rule.

Bentancur Blushes

This season, Bentancur has averaged over one foul a game and has committed five in his four appearances this season. In fact, he is averaging a foul every 43 minutes of league football this season.

Bentancur is likely to start as he only played 19 minutes whilst coming off the bench against Qarabag in the Europa League on Thursday evening. The Uruguayan could continue his poor disciplinary record this season as he potentially faces compatriot Manuel Ugarte in the midfield, after picking up 20 yellow cards in 58 league games for Spurs prior to this campaign.

Another player Bentancur will be matched up against on Sunday is Kobbie Mainoo, who is normally involved in the midfield battles. He has been fouled on average twice per game so far this season which I see continuing in a usually feisty affair between the two sides.

Recent Encounters

As previously stated, Man United vs Spurs is normally a tasty encounter. The last three league games between the sides have seen 15 cards shown, including a Bentancur yellow in the most recent game in January this year – even grabbing the last goal of the game in a wildly-swinging 2-2 draw. Hopefully we will see goals on Sunday!
