Premier League | Man Utd v Liverpool

Slot’s First Big Test

Super Sunday closes with the classic Premier League fixture of Man Utd v Liverpool. The Reds have started life under former Feyenoord boss Arne Slot successfully with two wins from two. The other former Eredivisie manager Erik Ten Haag knows there is still room for improvement for his team after narrowly beating Fulham 1-0 and losing 2-1 to Brighton. I’m expecting a fixture that rarely disappoints to treat us to a thriller once more. I’m backing Over 3.0 Asian Goal Line at 1.700.

Liverpool have impressed so far this season with comfortable 2-0 wins against Ipswich and Brentford. However this will be Slot’s first taste of English football rivalry. Man Utd v Liverpool is always a hostile atmosphere, it doesn’t matter where it’s being played. Man Utd fans will make Old Trafford uncomfortable for the new Liverpool manager, on paper the Red Devils have a weaker team compared to The Reds but Ten Haag has more Premier League experience which could prove to be invaluable here.

Magic Mo’s Favourite Fixture

There’s one player that springs to mind when talking about this fixture. That name is Mohammed Salah who has an excellent record against Man Utd. The Egyptian relishes playing against Liverpool’s rivals scoring 15 times against them. He is likely to be involved in the scoring one way or another on Sunday. The talisman has wasted no time with two goals and an assist this campaign so expect him to come flying out the blocks in a fixture he loves to play in.

Hero To Zero

Man Utd player Joshua Zirkzee had a moment to forget against Brighton when he struck off a sure goal by touching the ball to help it over line in an offside position. The Red Devils then went onto lose the game in the last minute. Fellow attacker Marcus Rashford will know that he will only have a few matches left to impress before he sees a reduction in his minutes on the pitch after poor performances. Both players will be keen to make amends at Old Trafford.

A statistic on Ten Haag’s side is that it’s been 49 years since a Liverpool manager has won their first competitive meeting against Manchester United. Although in their last 13 Premier League games against Liverpool, Man Utd have only won once.

Recent Premier League meetings have seen insane score lines with 2-2, 7-0, 4-0, 5-0 and 4-2. Man Utd v Liverpool is a fixture that is a football fan’s favourite and you can see why.
