The Build-Up
Game week two of the new Premier League season sees Liverpool face Brentford at Anfield. The Reds have won the last three meetings against Brentford, scoring eight goals in the process. The Bees have struggled in this fixture only scoring one goal. Game week one for both teams saw more second half goals than in the first half which was also a common theme last season. Liverpool scored 54 goals in the second half compared to only 32 in the first half. Similarly, Brentford also seemed to be more clinical in the second half with 35 goals to 21 in the first 45 minutes. That’s why I predict the second half to have the most goals at 1.91.
Liverpool
The Red’s first game of the Premier League season ended with a 2-0 win over Ipswich. Liverpool started slowly with Ipswich having most of the chances in the first half. The Reds looked a lot sharper and managed to grab two goals midway through the second half thanks to Diogo Jota and Mohamed Salah.
Brentford
Brentford also picked up three points in a hard fought win against Crystal Palace. Yoane Wissa scored a 76th minute winner in a game that could have gone either way. Wissa also assisted Bryan Mbuemo’s goal in an impressive performance. He will be one to watch out for as he eyes up Ivan Toney’s role in the team. As their star striker is looking set to be securing a move to Saudi Arabia.
Bonus Tip
In Liverpool’s opening game against Ipswich, Arne Slot opted to start Ryan Gravenberch. He showed a spirited performance which saw him lunge into several tackles, however the majority of them were late. He racked up five fouls in the game escaping a yellow card. Slot could start with Gravenberch again as he played 90 minutes leaving other central midfielders on the bench. My bonus tip is Gravenberch to commit two or more fouls at 2.37. I suggest waiting for the line ups to be announced before placing this bet, just in case the Dutchman doesn’t start the match.
