Premier League | Ipswich vs Liverpool

Salah

Saturday’s Early Game Tip

The first Saturday lunch-time game of the Premier League season kicks off at Portman Road where Newcomers, Ipswich host Giants, Liverpool. This game is expected to have several goals, Ipswich have just come up from the Championship and face a star-studded Liverpool team. The Red’s main man, Mohamed Salah is the first player in Premier League history to score on the opening day in four consecutive seasons. He also has an incredible scoring record with 157 league goals. I predict Salah will score anytime at 1.95.

The Egyptian King

Last Premier League season, Salah got 18 goals and 10 assists in 28 games. This was in a season where the media claimed it was his ‘worst season in a Liverpool shirt’. I think he will prove the doubters wrong and compete for the golden boot yet again. Salah has also had an extended pre-season period with no international football this summer so fans will be expecting the Egyptian to be extra sharp and get on the score sheet this Saturday.

Ipswich vs Liverpool Build-Up

The Liverpool players will want to impress new manager, Arne Slot, in their first competitive game in front of the Dutchman. Also hoping to keep their place in the team for matchday two, against Brentford.

Ipswich came up from the Championship last season as runners up to Leicester City, narrowly missing out on the trophy by one point. Ipswich will have the home advantage this Saturday, but will not be familiar with the pace of the Premier League. I think they will be in for a tough afternoon. They also haven’t played in the top flight of English football since they were relegated in the 2001/02 season.

In terms of new recruits, Liverpool are the only team not to make a signing this summer. In contrast, Ipswich have made multiple signings, including Man City youngster Liam Delap and West Ham right back, Ben Johnson which will improve their chances of survival from relegation this season. They have also secured a season-long loan deal for Kalvin Phillips which is a huge improvement to their midfield ahead of the new season.

I see Liverpool comfortably winning against Ipswich this Saturday, with Salah scoring anytime at 1.95.
