La Liga | Barcelona vs Getafe

League Leaders Barcelona Host 19th Getafe

Barcelona have made a flawless start to their La Liga campaign after many pundits and tipsters expected Real Madrid to walk the league. However, the league leaders have been outstanding under Hansi Flick and their star men have been firing on all cylinders. At the other end of the table, Getafe have had a poor start to the season with just four points in six games but it’s worth noting they have only conceded five goals in that time.

Barca Confidence

Barcelona are playing with swagger this season and have been rolling teams over with ease. They are averaging a crazy 3.67 goals a game and they have their strike force to thank. Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha and Lamine Yamal have a combined 14 goals so far this league campaign and look to score even more against a side sat second bottom of La Liga. In their last three league games, Barca have scored five, four and seven goals respectively and put four past Getafe in this fixture last season.

Flick’s side know they cannot afford to drop points after Real Madrid started slowly however Kylian Mbappe has found his rhythm in Spain’s top division and will take some stopping. A win against Getafe takes Barcelona four points clear at the top of the table.

Unlucky Getafe?

Although, Getafe sit 19th in the standings, their numbers this season reflect a side who should be mid table, not facing relegation. They have only lost twice this season, but remain winless with four draws. Getafe have defended well this season with the 3rd lowest goals conceded in the league but where they have been wasteful is in front of goal. They have scored just three goals this season with only Real Valladolid scoring fewer, with an expected goals figure of 1.20 on average per game, this will disappoint fans.

Tips

My main tip for this game will be Barcelona to score in both halves which has landed in their five of their six league games and at 1.83 is great value. I’m also backing Lamine Yamal to score or assist at 1.66. The young Spaniard has started this season with eight goal contributions and is full of confidence after Spain’s Euro win in the summer.
