Euro 2024 | Spain vs England

Spain v England Preview

The 2024 Euro final is set to be a thrilling tie. On Sunday night, Spain v England will be what football fans all around the globe will be watching. Bookies have the Spaniards as favourites at 1.66 to lift the trophy. However England’s performances have improved with their game of the tournament being against the Netherlands in the semi-final. With a team, arguably better on paper and a resurgence in form, can the Three Lions finally bring it home?

Whatever the result, I can’t see this being a quiet game. I’m backing Both Teams to Receive 2+ Cards at 2.10 (WillHill)

England’s Late Shows

England left their fans joyous once again this tournament with another late goal. Ollie Watkins came off the bench to take England to back to back Euros final with a fantastic finish from a tight angle with fellow substitute Cole Palmer assisting the goal.

This England side seem to have a positive squad mentality compared to previous years. Players who may be frustrated with lack of game time still come on prepared to make an impact. The Three Lions have a more experienced group of players compared to when they lost to Italy on penalties in Euro 2020 which will help mentally prepare them for another final.

Back Spanish Fouls

Here are some interesting stats that support my pick for Spain v England. The team with the most fouls this tournament are Spain with 83, averaging 13.8 per game on average. They have received 15 yellow cards and one red card in their six matches so far. England are also the most fouled team this tournament with 84 fouls suffered.

Marc Cucurella will be dreading the prospect of facing Bukayo Saka once again and is a good choice for a player booking. When Arsenal beat Chelsea 5-0 in the 2023/24 Premier League season, Cucurella received a yellow in the first half. Additionally, all of England’s opponents this tournament have received at least 20+ booking points.

I really can’t call the result of this match but one thing I am confident in is fouls and cards, above evens for two cards each is great value. In what will be a tense final at the historic Olympiastadion in Berlin amplifying the stakes, I’d be surprised to see the card happy ref keep them in his pocket.
