England face Switzerland in a bid to face either Turkey or the Netherlands in the semi-finals of the Euros. As the other 2 quarter-finals showed yesterday, I think this one has potential to be another tight game. Expect both managers to deploy some defensive, cautious tactics here.
England have been far from inspiring going forward so far this tournament. Across their 4 games, they’ve accumulated: 0.54, 0.82, 0.97 and 1.41 xG. With the players at their disposal, this is very disappointing and certainly underachieving. England have scored just 3 goals in the 90 minutes across all 4 games. A positive for Southgate’s men is the defence – they’ve looked solid defensively.
On the flip side, Switzerland have more than shown their quality to warrant their place in the quarter finals. Bologna forward, Dan Ndoye has really impressed me. He looks lively, keen for a shot and will cause England some issues here.
