Community Shield Final
The 2024/25 season kicks off with the Community Shield Final at Wembley hosting a Manchester derby. We have a repeat of last season’s FA Cup final in which Man Utd shocked their neighbours with a 2-1 win. In the last six seasons Man City have competed in five Community Shield Finals, however surprisingly, they have lost their last three. For this match up, I’m tipping a bet builder with two picks (Both Teams to Score & Both Teams to Receive a Card) at 2.35.
Pre Season Form
Man City haven’t had the most promising pre-season albeit they’ve been missing their strongest players who are still on a break since the Euros. They’ve won just one game out of the four they have played. Losing to Celtic, AC Milan and Barcelona with the win coming against Chelsea. Although, they’ve won just once, they have been amongst the goals as usual with Erling Haaland looking as prolific as ever.
The Norwegian scored a hattrick against Chelsea and will want to start the season off with more goals against bitter rivals Man Utd.
Second Chance for Ten Haag?
Erik Ten Haag has been given a contract extension after his future at the club was in doubt. He will stay on for one more year and winning the Community Shield would be a fantastic way to silence critics.
Both Teams to Score has happened in six of the last seven head to head meetings between the clubs and I can see the same occurring today. It doesn’t need to be said that these rivals should be able to pick up a card each with a trophy on the line. Casemiro is set to start who is always a good choice for a card.
Both picks combined at 2.35 is a strong price and one that offers value.
