Reigning German champions Bayer Leverkusen welcome Eintracht Frankfurt to the BayArena on Saturday afternoon, which looks set to be a competitive and action-packed match.
Frankfurt have impressed in the early stages of the campaign. After losing their opening game against Borussia Dortmund, they are now unbeaten in seven games, scoring two or more goals in all 7/7 – tallying 20 goals in the process. Leverkusen have also started the campaign as they left off last season. They have lost just once in nine competitive games, that in a crazy 3-2 defeat to RB Leipzig.
Both sides have been easy on the eye this season, often providing high-scoring matches. Frankfurt have seen over 2.5 goals in 7/9 games in all competitions, with their last four games seeing: 6, 4, 6 and 6 goals. Their games in the Bundesliga are averaging 3.83 goals per game. They have scored 13 goals in their last four games in all competitions with the likes of Omar Marmoush providing the goods. The Egyptian has been on fantastic form, scoring ten goals in all competitions.
Frankfurt do however, leak goals too – they have kept just a single clean sheet this season and often struggle defensively against the bigger teams. They conceded three versus Bayern Munich and twice to Dortmund earlier on in the season. Leverkusen will look to take advantage of this.
They have scored 16 goals in the league this season, a total only bettered by league leaders Bayern. Under Xabi Alonso, Leverkusen create plenty of chances and always look capable of scoring multiple goals. Florian Wirtz is amongst multiple attacking threats in Alonso’s preferred XI. A bit like Frankfurt however, the Spaniard’s side are often found out defensively. They have already conceded 12 goals, averaging 2 goals conceded per game.
