Cristiano Ronaldo’s Last International Tournament?
Portugal start their European journey on Tuesday against Czechia at the Red Bull Arena. Portugal has a star-studded squad with world-class players like Bruno Fernandes, Rafael Leao, Bernardo Silva and of course Cristiano Ronaldo. The competition’s top goalscorer takes part in his sixth Euros this summer. The 39-year-old is coming off the back of a 35 league goal season winning him the golden boot in the Saudi Pro-League.
Scoring should not be a problem for Portugal with 36 goals scored in a perfect qualifying campaign, whilst the Czechs were also the joint top scorers in their group with 12 goals.
That is why I have tipped over match 2.5 goals at 1.72.
Qualifying Form
Portugal are tipped as one of the favourites to lift the European Championship trophy. They have been playing great football during their qualifying campaign picking up a maximum of 30 points from their 10 games, only conceding two goals in that time.
On the other hand, Czechia has had a very impressive qualifying campaign to the Euros, placing second in their group to Albania, only by goal difference. I think Portugal’s attacking talent will be too much, however, their opponents will be quietly confident they can reach the knockouts picking up points against Turkey and Georgia.
