England to Prove Doubters Wrong?
It’s fair to say England have received a lot of criticism for their past two performances at the Euros. The main complaints have been around England’s defensive nature once going ahead which cost them the game against Denmark in the 1-1 draw, with Harry Kane under the spotlight for his performance. The Three Lions last group game is against Slovenia who have surprised many with solid performances earning them two points. Kane to be Dropped?
Harry Kane received plenty of criticism despite scoring the opener for England. Pundits weren’t impressed by his movement and suggested he needed to offer more going forward. The experienced striker will not be fazed by those criticisms. He will remain focused on the game and I see him finding the net again as he has done in previous tournaments for England.
Gareth Southgate is not afraid of changing up the team if necessary as rumours suggest Trent Alexander-Arnold is being replaced with Conor Gallagher. To further back up the ‘Under 2.5 Match Goals tip, Gallagher is a lot more defensive minded than Alexander Arnold. This could suggest Southgate wants to sure up the midfield and stop Slovenia creating chances.
Solid Slovenia
Slovenia were a lot of tipster’s choice to finish last in group C. However, they’ve surprised many with decent performances against good sides. After conceding a last gasp equaliser against Serbia, Slovenia will be wanting to fix that with a result here. If they finish the group with less than three points, it’s highly unlikely they will qualify for the knockouts.
