    Liverpool missed out on the the 2022-23 Premier League top four this season despite a strong ending to their campaign, which can be described as below par at best, and so, BestofBets takes a look at who were the best Liverpool players responsible for late resurgence and a fifth place finish the 2022-23 Premier League season.

    5. Curtis Jones – Average rating 6.67/10:
    Curtis Jones enjoyed his most consistent season in 2022-23 with over 24 appearances in all competitions. Furthermore, the creative midfielder scored three goals and provided an assist along with some vital performances that revived Liverpool’s season to some extent.

    4. Cody Gakpo – Average rating 7.06/10

Furthermore, he also contributed four goals and ten assists in all competitions in the 2022-23 season.

    Surprised to not see him top of this list? From time to time, Mohamed Salah has proved why he is one of the best wingers in Premier League history.
    Salah was yet again, one of the best players of the Premier League this season in terms of goalscoring. After a slow start to the season, the Egyptian showcased why he is the best winger in the league as came up with an incredible 30 goals. Above all, he also helped the Reds with 16 assists. Furthermore, Salah was the shining light in a poor season with Liverpool objectives this season with a 7.25 rating out of 10.

    1. Alisson Becker – Average rating 6.81/10
    Without Alisson Becker‘s incredible goalkeeping performances, Liverpool would have ended up in the bottom half of the Premier League table. The Brazilian shot-stopper made 47 appearances in all competitions. As a result, he also came up with clean sheets in 17 of those games, conceding 59 goals. Another key point of Alisson’s season was his incredible assist for Salah’s goal against Manchester City in October 2022, given that, Liverpool won that game 1-0 at Anfield.

    8. Sven Botman – Newcastle United – 129 points
    First of four Newcastle players in this list, Sven Botman enjoyed a pretty successful first season at the club, coming up with 13 clean sheets and 129 points in Fantasy Premier League. He is one of the major reasons for Newcastle’s qualification for the Champions League next season.

    First of six English players in this list, Dan Burn led Newcastle United to a top four finish with a much versatile role in defence. The traditional centre-back was often deployed at left-back and did an immense job in helping Newcastle qualify for the Champions League. He gained 129 points in the 2022-23 Fantasy Premier League season.

    7. Tyrone Mings – Aston Villa – 130 points
    Like Newcastle, Aston Villa too enjoyed an immensely successful season on the pitch as they came seventh on the Premier League table. As a result, they attained a qualifying spot in Europe’s third tier competition, the UEFA Europa Conference League. Much credit for their success goes to Tyrone Mings. The English defender spearheaded their defence and gained 130 points on Fantasy Premier League throughout the season.

    6. Fabian Schar – Newcastle United – 139 points
    Newcastle United showcased one of the best defensive record in the Premier League’s 2022-23 season.  Fabian Schar formed part of an imperious back four alongside Dan Burn, Kieran Trippier and Sven Botman, out of which Schar had 15 clean sheets to his name for the Magpies, earning 139 points in total, thus making him the sixth best defender in Fantasy Premier League.

    5. Ben Mee – Brentford – 143 points
    Brentford‘s amazing season on the pitch was much thanks to Ben Mee’s excellence at the back. The English defender claimed 143 points throughout the 2022-23 Premier League season as Brentford finished ninth on the table.

    4. Gabriel – Arsenal – 146 points
    The second Arsenal player on this list with 146 points to his name is Brazilian centre-back Gabriel.
    The towering defender amassed such a points tally in Fantasy Premier League in the 2022-23 season courtesy of 15 additional points he won as bonus!

Trent scored 156 points, with two goals, 11 assists and 10 clean sheets to his name!

    Arsenal’s rise to Premier League title challengers in the 2022-23 season was much thanks to their full-backs. But, their right-back Ben White was one of their best performing players on the pitch and in Fantasy Premier League. The English full-back claimed 156 points throughout the Premier League season with two goals, five assists and 15 clean sheets!

    1. Kieran Trippier – Newcastle United – 198 points
    Fantasy Premier League’s bonus points machine, Kieran Trippier enjoyed yet another incredible spell in the game, but unlike his previous seasons, this season, his contributions also helped Newcastle secure Champions League football for next season.
    The English full-back was the highest contributor in fantasy points among defenders with 198 and scored 10 or more points five times during the 2022-23 season!
