UEFA Nations League | Matchday 3 Goalscorer Treble

As the international breaks trudges along, Thursday finally sees some action as Matchday 3 of the UEFA Nations League kicks into gear.

With four leagues of 14 groups to play twice before Tuesday is out, here at BestofBets were are once again eyeing up a goalscorer treble.

For the last three instalments of the column we’ve hit 2/3, so will internationals bring greater favour?

Spreading our net across all games, here is our Nations League Matchday 3 punt @ a tasty 18/1 with BoyleSports.

    Georges Mikautadze

The biggest issue with picking an international treble is predicting just what XI will be starting for certain countries. With that in mind we look for the sure-fire starters, beginning with Georges Mikautadze.

As Georgia travel to Poznan to face Ukraine, Willy Sagnol continues to get the best from an extremely talented squad, sitting top of Group B1, after two games.

Thrashing Czechia to begin the competition and then picking up a narrow win against the handy Albanians, together with ‘Kvaradona’, Mikautadze has been a focal point in attack.

Having scored three goals during the Euros. the Lyon striker has not scored for his new club since a summer switch from Metz, but for his country, he is a form man.

Its currently five from seven for Mikautadze for Georgia; facing a Ukraine side already having shipped five goals in two Nations League outings, punters should be in good hands.

    Harry Kane

Next up, we turn our eyes toward London and Group B2 as leaders England and Greece meet at Wembley Stadium, and with a slight element of doubt over his starting, we’re sticking with Harry Kane.

Netting a brace against Iceland in Matchday 2, the England skipper took his total past the century mark and went on to a short-term prolific run for Bayern Munich.

Hitting hat-tricks in the Bundesliga away to Holstein Kiel and then days later an historic four goals at home to Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League, Kane then grabbed another goal away to Bremen the following weekend.

Scoring a combined total of 10 goals in 11 days in all comps, Kane, however, has blanked in his last three, with a slight injury concern.

But with a potentially pivotal game to come here, this should be the occasion for Kane to rise once more and we are backing him to be amongst the goals.

    Kerem Akturkoglu

Finally, we jump to Samsun and Group B4 as leaders Turkey host Montenegro, with Kerem Akturkoglu on fire for both club and country.

Having scored a hat-trick against Iceland in Matchday 2, the Turkish number 7 has carried through his scintillating form for new club Benfica.

    Embed from Getty Images

His switch from Galatasaray has been seamless, having scored in all but one of five Primera Liga games since, and in his one goalless outing, grabbed a brace of assists.

Akturkoglu is catching the eye of a number of Europe’s top club, but he has already made our radar.

As Montenegro visit having conceded twice against both a revitalised Wales and Iceland, Turkey look good here to grab at least another few, and Akturkoglu could very well be on the scoresheet again.

  • UEFA Champions League | BestofBets’ Matchday 1 Goalscorer Treble

UEFA Champions League | BestofBets’ Matchday 1 Goalscorer Treble

So here we go again, another UEFA Champions League adventure, but this season with a very different look and feel from Matchday 1.

No longer a Group competition, European football’s top dining table is now a league, with the top eight sides finishing as seeds and nine to 16 progressing as the unseeded sides.

However, between that point and now lie no less than eight matchdays, throwing up a glut of mouth-watering ties up until January.

Weekday games are stretched over three nights also – Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday – leaving football fans spoilt for choice.

So, as Matchday 1 begins, we’ve plucked a Goalscorer Treble from the 18 games on show at a combined 5.61/1 with BetUK.

    Erling Haaland

    Why start with anyone else?

Still the hottest striking property on planet football, Erling Haaland was denied a record third consecutive Premier League hat-trick against Brentford on Saturday, but his tally still reads an astonishing nine in four games to start the season.

Inter provide a stern opening test as the reigning Italian champions, but at the top level you would still back the Cityzens, and their viking hitman to find the net.

Simone Inzaghi’s men were held over the weekend by Monza in a Lombardy derby, however before that, thrashed Atalanta 4-0.

Haaland may have only netted once in his last three Champions League games, but the Norwegian is on fire in front of goal and despite difficult opposition, looks good to open his European account in Matchday 1.

    Harry Kane

As does Bayern Munich’s number 9, Harry Kane.

Despite a sluggish start to the season – perhaps off the back of summer disappointment with England – Kane has four in the last two Bundesliga outings, putting three past Holstein Kiel only days ago.

The important thing with the England man – netting twice in his 100th appearance for the Three Lions – Kane is a form player, so even when he isn’t at his best, a run of goals is like a trail of breadcrumbs.

Matchday 1’s visitors to Munich are Dinamo Zagreb, who sit third in the Croatian top flight having lost the last two league outings, most recently against rivals Hajduk Split.

Kane looks to be finding his feet under Vincent Kompany now and his movement in Kiel was superior to any showing this term so far. Expect Kane to be on the scoresheet this week.

    Viktor Gyokeres

The question is: just how good is Viktor Gyokeres?

It barely seems possibly only two seasons ago the red-hot Swede was plying his trade in the Championship with Coventry City, but Gyokeres has truly spread his wings in Lisbon.

    Embed from Getty Images

A record comparable with Haaland, at Sporting Clube, Gyokeres has scored in all five of Sporting’s opening games this term, netting braces against Rio Ave, Nacional, this past weekend at Arouca, with a hat-trick away at Farense.

Gyokeres is a menacing presence up front and a Lille side who have conceded five in three will likely be sweating at the thought.

With the Swedish international totting up the goals, Sporting could go far in this tournament, but at the very least looks good to find the net in Matchday 1.

Goalscorer treble: Haaland, Kane and Gyokeres to score @ 5.61/1 with BetUK.

Bonus bet: All THREE of Haaland, Kane and Gyokeres to score a BRACE at 105/1 with Betfred.

  • Harry Kane latest: Real Madrid 7/4 to seal swoop

Harry Kane latest: Real Madrid 7/4 to seal swoop

Just over a week since the end of the Premier League season, the arrival of June has seen the transfer rumour mill kick into gear.

When it comes to Harry Kane, speculation is a mere footnote to this period.

However, this year could be different and Real Madrid have reportedly come calling.

    Spurs’ new era

As Tottenham continue their search for a new manager, Ange Postecoglou is now favourite to take the reins.

However, Kane may not be part of the ‘Ange era’.

Having frequently pledged his loyalty to the club in recent years, the Lilywhites now have a problem.

After Spurs slipped out of the top-four once more, Champions League football is no longer on the table.

For Kane, having become the first player to score 30 goals during two separate seasons in the 38-game Premier League era, he remains trophyless.

Fresh from becoming Tottenham’s all-time top scorer, Kane currently sits on 213 Premier League goals, just 47 behind Alan Shearer‘s all-time record in the top-flight.

Still only 29, he looks destined to not only break but smash that tally.

However, Los Blancos could attempt to throw a spanner in the works.

    Ancelotti keen

Having lost their Champions League crown and also seeing Barcelona claim the La Liga crown, the Spanish capital club are at a crossroads.

Seeing talisman Karim Benzema play his final game at home to Athletic Club on Sunday, Los Blancos are seeking a new star number nine.

If reports are believed, Madrid want that to be Kane.

The major stumbling block could be Spurs chairman Daniel Levy wanting at least £100million for his star asset.

As reported by BBC Sport however, Guillem Balague explained the Spanish outfit are set to offload the likes of Eden Hazard, Marco Asensio and Mariano Diaz.

That would tot up to around £66m in fees and wages but Madrid would still struggle to afford a deal.

Even then would he leave England and put his quest to become the Premier League’s record scorer on hold?

But surely Kane couldn’t turn down a big move to Madrid and the promise of silverware?

BetUK have a move as short at 7/4 to happen.

    Levy preference

A move away from England for Kane would be the preferred option for Levy.

Letting Kane depart for Iberia would avoid strengthening direct rivals but how likely is it?

    Embed from Getty Images

Whatever the case, with Kane’s £200,000pw deal set to expire next summer, decisions will have to be made.

Manchester United continue to be linked also, whilst Bayern Munich and Thomas Tuchel still have an interest.

But for now, it appears that Spain could be in Harry Kane’s near future.

  • Transfer speculation: Harry Kane 6/1 to join Pochettino at Chelsea

Transfer speculation: Harry Kane 6/1 to join Pochettino at Chelsea

As days in Tottenham Hotspur‘s Premier League history go, Sunday 23 April 2023 will go down as a dark one.

After Newcastle United inflicted one of Spurs’ heaviest losses in a 6-1 hammering at St. James’ Park, further misery has been heaped on the Lilywhites after a difficult season.

Having seen their north London neighbours fight for the title, the era of Antonio Conte has come and almost as quickly gone, with hopes of Champions League football heading in the same direction.

Now, with just top-tier European competition having kept him at the club previously, talisman Harry Kane may have a difficult decision to make.

After pledging his future to the club repeatedly, his loyalty will again be tested this summer.

Spurs’ chairman Daniel Levy has stated this week that Kane is not for sale ‘at any price’ and any move will require Kane to submit a transfer request.

Still around 1/2 to stay with Tottenham then, if Kane does ask to finally leave the Tottenham nest, where might his next destination be?

    Old Trafford bound?

If Kane does spread his wings, the most likely switch for the time being is at a 6/4 shot with BetVictor to make the move to Old Trafford for next term.

For United, having papered over the cracks at number nine for some time now, Kane would effortlessly fill the void.

Though Marcus Rashford has proved he can play the lone forward role, Rashford’s natural strength is as a support striker.

    Embed from Getty Images

Going forward – literally – with Jadon Sancho on the wing, the three could eventually form a formidable English front line for Erik ten Hag.

It currently looks still some way off, but seeing Kane turn out for the Red Devils would make a lot of sense.

    Pochettino lure remains for Kane

    How about a longer shot?

Chelsea might appear a stretch right now, but with Mauricio Pochettino close to being unveiled as The Blues’ new permanent boss, could Kane and Poch yet be reunited?

Though the west London side will also be without the lure of Champions League football, his former manager might yet be a big pawn in Kane’s decision.

It was Pochettino who brought persevered with Kane and turned him into one of the finest strikers around; there would be no issues in picking up where they left off.

Chelsea, for all their money spent in the transfer market have – rather inexplicably – still failed to add a centre-forward.

That will change under the Argentine.

Though Romelu Lukaku could be set to make yet another return Stamford Bridge in the post-season, Kane making what would be a hugely controversial move south across the capital isn’t so improbable.

For that to materialise is short as 6/1, but is on for more than double that at 20s with BetUK.

    Bavarian alternative

Perhaps though, a fresh start on the continent is what Kane is after – it would certainly avoid any awkward moves to a rival club.

Linked for some time now with Bayern Munich, the Bavarians have not looked the same this term without the services of Robert Lewandowski.

Though Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting has ably filled the Pole’s boots for a time, Bayern are in need of a permanent number nine.

Kane, of all the front men around in Europe’s top leagues can make a strong case to being the perfect replacement for Lewandowski; an out-and-out, lethal target-man.

    Embed from Getty Images

The main stumbling block here however, will be Kane’s pursuit of Alan Shearer‘s all-time Premier League goalscoring record.

Fresh from becoming Tottenham’s all-time record league scorer, Kane currently sits at 207 goals, just 53 behind Shearer.

It may only require two more full seasons for Kane to break that tally, but staying in England will, of course, be needed.

Nevertheless, if punters can see the England skipper seeking pastures new, PariMatch are offering 8/1 odds for Kane to be at ANY German club next season.

If matters in the boardroom at Spurs become somewhat ugly, this option for Levy would be wholly more palatable and as such, this outcome cannot be sniffed at.

In total, they directly linked up for 18 Premier League goals which is double the number contributed by Yorke and Cole. Overall, they combined for exactly 200 goals between them in the top flight during their time together.
Henry scored an incredible 164 goals out of those 200, which counts as 164 assists by Bergkamp, which is quite an astonishing number. That, and their ‘Invincibles’ season makes them the rightful contender for the top of our list!
