UEFA Europa League | BestofBets’ Matchday 1 Goalscorer Treble

After last week’s opening menu for the Champions League took centre stage, this Wednesday and Thursday sees the UEFA Europa League serve up the entertainment in Matchday 1.

The desert to a traditional European midweek, the Europa League has often provided more goals than its big brother alternative, and like in the UCL, we’re eyeing the goalscorers.

Rotation is often in play for these games, so it is worth considering who may start, but with that fresh in the mind, here is BestofBets’ Europa League Matchday 1 Goalscorer Treble @ 13/1 with Unibet.

    Artem Dovbyk

As seamless transitions go, Artem Dovbyk has taken to life in Rome like a gondola in Venice.

Netting 24 La Liga goals last term, the Ukrainian has swapped Catalonia for the Eternal City and has not lost a step.

Having scored in his last two Serie A appearances, Dovbyk has combined with Paulo Dybala to form a lethal front two, despite Daniele de Rossi’s surprise dismissal only days ago.

Athletic Club are the visitors in Matchday 1 for AS Roma who under Ernesto Valverde will be one of the favourites to progress deep into this tournament, but Dovbyk has the threat, and above all confidence, to add to his season tally.

    Omar Marmoush

Next up, we switch focus to Germany as Eintracht Frankfurt host Viktoria Plzen on Thursday, and Omar Marmoush could be a smart addition to the treble.

One of the most in-form strikers around, Marmoush has scored in his last three Bundesliga outings – now three in four games – including a brace away to Wolfsburg earlier this month.

On penalty duties to boot, the Egyptian forward carries extra value and though still in the shadow of Mo Salah for his country, Marmoush’s numbers in German football are creating waves.

We expect that to continue in midweek.

    Dominic Solanke

With the final leg of our treble, there is an element of doubt whether Dominic Solanke starts, but notching his first Tottenham goal at the weekend, the big man may be looking to hit form against Qarabag.

The tricky Azerbaijan side – who almost become one of only two sides to beat Bayer Leverkusen last term – are very decent opponents, but in defence look shaky,

Punters back Spurs at their peril on most occasions, but we are fairly confident on home turf they can put on a goals show.

Even if Qarabag break the Tottenham boughs – which with Leandro Andrade and Junior Vieira in tow is a distinct possibility – but with Solanke looking to make a statement to the fans, he should be a confident leg to our treble.

Arsenal vs Sporting CP Europa League round of 16 second leg preview, where to watch, probable XI and prediction

Premier League leaders Arsenal will host Sporting CP in an all-to-play Europa League round of 16 clash at the Emirates Stadium on Thursday night.

Following a 2-2 draw in the first leg of this UEFA Europa League in Lisbon last week, Arsenal are the big favourites to defeat Sporting CP at home. Apart from playing on home turf, a reason for the overwhelming Arsenal support is that Sporting CP haven’t won any of their last nine European away games against English clubs.

Arsenal vs Sporting CP score prediction

The Gunners could enjoy this game considering Sporting CP’s atrocious away record as they have conceded nearly twice as many goals on their travels this season (25) as they have at home (14).

Sporting CP could pose some threat but we think Arsenal will have enough to overcome the challenge.

Our prediction: Arsenal 2-1 Sporting CP

Manchester United vs Real Betis Team News

Casemiro has reportedly picked up an injury and is expected to miss the first leg, especially considering the fact that he is one yellow card away from a one game suspension in the Europa League. Lindelof, Shaw and Varane are all suffering knocks, with the latter two especially sitting out this one. Anthony Martial remains a continued absence for United, along with Donny van de Beek and Christian Eriksen.

Real Betis will be without their talisman and captain Nabil Fekir, who suffered a season ending injury. Another creative midfielder Juan Cruz is out through injury too. However, one positive news is that Sergio Canales returned to training on Monday after missing the draw against Real Madrid.

Manchester United vs Real Betis Probable Lineups

Manchester United: De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Maguire, Martinez, Malacia; Sabitzer, McTominay; Sancho, Fernandes, Garnacho; Rashford

Real Betis: Bravo; Sabaly, Felipe, Pezzella, Miranda; Carvalho, Rodriguez; Canales, Rodri, Perez; Iglesias

    Prediction

Betis have shown this season that they are more than capable to hurt and beat any opposition on any given day.

Manchester United may be vulnerable, but with Erik ten Hag at the helm, it is quite possible that we see a totally different mentality from the Red Devils, one which will lead them to victory.

    Manchester United 2-0 Real Betis

Sporting CP vs Arsenal Team News

Midfielders Daniel Braganca (knee) and Manuel Ugarte (suspension) are the only absentees confirmed for Sporting’s first leg against Arsenal. Hector Bellerin is fit to feature against his former club.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is expected to make wholesale changes to his team considering they are chasing a possible first Premier League title in 19 years.

Sporting CP: Adan; Diomande, Coates, Inacio; Bellerin, Morita, Pedro Goncalves, Reis; Edwards, Paulinho, Santos

Arsenal: Turner; Tomiyasu, Holding, Kiwior, Tierney; Jorginho, Vieira, Xhaka; Nelson, Martinelli, Smith Rowe

    Prediction

Arsenal aren’t expected to field their strongest XI which makes this tie intriguing. Since they have had virtually the same lineup week-in week-out in the Premier League up till now, it is obvious Arteta will make wholesale changes that may give Sporting an advantage.

    Sporting CP 2-1 Arsenal
