Euro 2024 | Saturday’s quarter-finals

The second day of Euro 2024 quarter Final action is here and we have another two fixtures to get stuck into. A lacklustre England take on a dangerous Switzerland side. After that we have Netherlands v Turkey in what should be an entertaining fast paced match. Check out my tip for each match below!

England v Switzerland

Jude Bellingham came to England’s rescue on Sunday to score the equalising goal in the 5th minute of added time. The Real Madrid midfielder scored an acrobatic overhead kick for England’s first shot on target of the game. A statistic that will make England fans wince with the attacking talent on show. With news that Gareth Southgate will adopt a more attacking formation, could we see a new-look England side compared to their first four games?

Switzerland beat an Italy side that frankly have looked mediocre all tournament. However, the Swiss are a side with great quality and should not be expected to roll over, especially with England’s performances this tournament. Granit Xhaka is their star player coming off the back of a sensational season with Bayer Leverkusen. They also possess an exciting attack with Dan Ndoye and Breel Embolo who have each scored once this Euros.

My tip for this game is for the match to end as a Draw in 90 minutes.

Netherlands v Turkey

Holland go into this match as favourites with Cody Gakpo paving the way for the Dutch. The Liverpool forward is currently the joint top goal scorer in the competition with three goals and an assist. Holland play free flowing attacking football which is evident in their results this tournament.

Turkey go into this Euro 2024 quarter finals clash with three wins and a loss so far. Interestingly they have seen over three or more goals in all four of those games. Watching their style of play you can see why. Turkey play with no fear and attack in numbers which makes them dangerous but leaves them exposed at the back.

Netherlands have also seen three or more goals in all but one of their games this tournament. I’m expecting this game to be open and end to end. If Netherlands’ attack have their shooting boots on and Turkey continue to be a threat from set pieces, this should see plenty of goals.

So my tip for this game is over 2.5 match goals.
