Star Man Cody Gakpo
Cody Gakpo has been in fine form for the Netherlands so far this tournament. The Dutch Coach, Ronald Koeman has not seen many of his players perform better than Gakpo. Every time he gets the ball, he is direct and wants to make things happen for the Netherlands going forward. He has scored two goals which is more than any other Dutch player so far in Euro 2024. That is why I’m backing Cody Gakpo to score anytime against Romania with odds at 2.75
Romania Top Group E
Romania have been one of the surprises of the tournament. We have seen some solid displays which earnt them top spot in Group E. It was certainly a tough group to qualify from, especially with the likes of Belgium who finished second.
Spurs defender, Radu Dragusin, has been a wall at the back for Romania and has been there to make blocks when they needed him, especially in their 3-0 win against Ukraine on Game Week 1. They will be a tough team to beat, even from a team with an abundance of quality as the Netherlands.
Will the Netherlands continue to underperform?
Overall, the Netherlands had a disappointing group stage which saw them finish third in their group with 4 points. Fortunately for them, they went through as one of the best third place sides. In fairness to them, the Netherlands had a difficult group with France, who won the tournament back in 2016. Austria also made a huge statement by securing first place in group D. The Netherlands had a mix of results including a late 2-1 win against Poland and 3-2 loss to Austria.
We’re not sure what to expect from the Netherlands on Tuesday, but what we do know is that Cody Gakpo can create a goal out of nothing. This is one of the reasons why he’s only been substituted once so far this tournament.
